Schizophrenia can lead to hallucinations and it can be difficult for those affected by it to tell what is real and what is not. Some tasks that can be trained to help are (but are not limited to):
Saying hello to people
We can train the dog to go and say "hi" to people on command. If a hallucination is suspected and you tell the dog to go and say hello, they will not move from your side because there is no one there to say hello to. This can greatly help paranoia.
Keeping handler's body warm during an episode
Deep pressure therapy
Checking a home before entering for intruders
Doing reality checks with an onset of an episode
Remind handler to take medication on time
